Timetracker next version

Posted by admin on April 15, 2011

How many users does timetracker really have and what versions are they using?
I don't know... so I'll release a new version to help me answering those questions.
But you guys should also win something with this new version, right?

This is the list of expected changes to be included in the upcoming version:

  • Fix some annoyances
    • Trying to shutdown PC with a running task
    • "No task warning" plug-in should not bother when there is a stopped task defined for the current period
    • "Time/date change detected" without any reason
  • Share in Facebook button (You may want to share in facebook that you are using this nice app)
  • Usage statistics (just a simple/anonymous/unobtrusive way to quantify how many users timetracker has)
  • Client entity (a client has projects; a project has tasks; a task has time entries)
  • Plugins management improvements
  • Merging tasks (#84)
  • Change start of week (#69)

Hello,

I use this very nice app to track lots of projects. Good job by the way! Currently with v0.9.11.1, I do not see the ability to copy a current/finished project (and rename) to create a new project for the purpose of using the existing tasks that I have already entered. I have a lot of projects that use the same tasks but I have to manually enter the same tasks into the new project which takes a lot of time. I do not want to overwrite the existing projects with a new one because I like to archive them and keep them in the projects/tasks viewing panes. Is there any way to add this function to the application? Thank you very much.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the nice comment and sorry for the late reply (I'm not getting email notification for the comments).

About your question:
You may copy one or more tasks (use CTRL + mouse click) from an existent Project(you may even create an "template" project for this) to another project:
- Select tasks from the "template" project
- Right click the selected tasks
- Choose Copy > List of destination projects

Best regards

Hello Robert

For me it would be great if i could disable the TASKS i use only the projects. At the moment i put a single "." as placeholfer in the Task. I dont need it - but i has to doubleclick all the time. I wish i could disable the tasks.

regards

Micha

I love the time tracker. I like having a desktop version that is easy to use. I have been using it now for almost 2 years I guess. I do have a couple of issues and one request/question I guess.

1. The task column is always so tiny you can't see it and must always resize it.
2. When switching from the table view (default view) to text it often does not work, and I have to close the program and reopen it to get it to show.

SUGGESTION/REQUEST/QUESTION :)

I use QuickBooks Online, and would love to be able to set this up to automatically sync with QuickBooks online. Any chance that might be possible in the near future?

Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi there,

Love your app! Been using it for at least 2 years, maybe more.

Was wondering if there could be an option to sort the Projects list, or better yet, archive older projects (instead of deleting them)? I figure sort would be easier to do, and we can just rename older projects to something like "zz_Name Of Project" so they go to the bottom of the list.

Thanks again. You and your app both rock!

P.S. I just got another developer I work with using it. I promote it anytime I can.
